Heavy load carrier to carry famous Calypso research vessel to Genoa

The "Abis Dusavik" is expected at the port of Concarneau on Mar 14, 2016 at 8 a.m. to take on board the derelict research vessel of the famous Jacques Cousteau, the "Calypso", in order to carry it to a repair yard in Genoa where it will be restored.

The hull will be hoisted on board with the two cranes of the ship with a capacity of 150 tonnes each, and the hull was prepared for the lift since the beginning of the week and the cradle it was resting in was enstrengthened for this purpose.

The "Calypso" has been decying in a shed in Concarneau since 2009 following a dispute between Piriou, which was to rebuild the vesseel, and the Cousteau Foundation, and was removed from it on Mar 4 and transported to the dock.
