Cargo ship aground off Vierow
The "Eems Chrystal" ran aground off the port of Vierow,
Vorpommern-Greifswald, on Apr 9, 2014 at 6.50 a.m.
During the berthing manoever the unloaded ship drifted into the
shallows by yet unknown reasons. As the crew was unable to get
the ship off, a tug was called to refloat it.
The salvage attempt had to be aboarted when the west wind
increased to 6-7 beaufort in the afternoon at 2.35 p.m. and
was to be resumed on Apr 10.
The water police Wolgast was on scene with the "Damerow"
